In this review, we'll explore the unique gameplay mechanics, design, and captivating soundtrack that make Oxygen a standout addition to ELK Studios' portfolio of immersive slot games.

Gameplay features and bonuses

Oxygen presents a 6-reel, 7-row gaming grid featuring a Cluster Paying system. This means that when five or more identical symbols align either horizontally or vertically on the screen, it forms a winning combination. The game leans towards higher volatility, offering an RTP (Return to Player) of 94% and the potential to achieve a maximum win of up to 25,000 times your initial bet.

Multiplier: One of the game's mechanics is the multiplier feature, where each winning combination increases the multiplier value for the symbol positions involved in the win. Initially, the first win on a specific symbol position adds an X1 multiplier, and this multiplier value doubles with each subsequent winning combination that covers the same position. Importantly, all multiplier values persist throughout the Free Drops in Bonus mode, with the most significant single multiplier reaching a maximum of 2048.

Multiplier Strike: Adding variety to the gameplay, the game introduces the Multiplier Strike feature, which randomly places a varying number of multipliers on the symbol grid. This feature can activate during any symbol drop or free drop, providing an additional layer of unpredictability and potential rewards.

Multiplier Collector: Oxygen also includes the Multiplier Collector feature, which accumulates and combines all multiplier values visible on the grid to a designated collector's symbol position. This feature triggers when a portion of a winning cluster forms. What sets this apart is its persistence, offering players a unique strategy element as they chase more lucrative combinations and multipliers.

Exploding Wild: This is a Wild symbol that comes into play when it's part of a winning cluster. When activated, the Exploding Wild clears all payout symbols within an X-shaped area above and below itself. It detonates when no more winning combinations are possible, and all features within the X-shaped area are triggered.

X-Blaster Wild: Another Wild symbol, the X-Blaster Wild, triggers when it's part of a winning cluster. It selects a random payout symbol or wild symbol to replace all payout symbols within an X-shaped pattern. If there are Exploding Wilds or other X-Blasters in its path, they also trigger. Symbols affected by multiple X-Blasters transform into Wild symbols.

Bonus Game: To enter the bonus game, you'll need 3 bonus symbols, which grant you 10 free drops. Multipliers remain persistent when entering the bonus game and between free drops. In the Super Bonus mode, you'll have at least one persistent multiplier feature. The Bonus game can be retriggered in the following ways: 3 Bonus symbols grant an additional +5 free drops and 2 Bonus symbols provide an extra +3 free drops.

X-iter: The X-iter feature offers the option to buy into four different game modes:

• Super Bonus: Purchase a bonus game with a guaranteed persistent multiplier feature for a cost of 500 times the selected bet.
• Bonus: Buy a bonus game directly at a cost of 100 times the selected bet.
• Persistent Multiplier Feature: Secure a guaranteed persistent multiplier feature for a cost of 25 times the selected bet.
• Multiplier Strike: Guarantee a Multiplier Strike by paying 10 times the selected bet.

Design and Soundtrack

Oxygen's design immerses players in a captivating underwater world. The visuals are rich in aquatic colors and intricate details, evoking the serene depths of the ocean. Accompanying the gameplay is an enchanting soundtrack featuring soothing melodies and subtle underwater sound effects. This combination creates an immersive experience that enhances the game's theme, making it a visually and aurally delightful journey beneath the waves.

The Bottom Line

Oxygen offers an engaging underwater gaming experience with its unique Cluster Paying system and exciting multiplier mechanics. While it may lack the flash and excitement of some other slots, it delivers solid gameplay and the potential for substantial wins. The tranquil design and soothing soundtrack contribute to a relaxing atmosphere, making it a worthwhile choice for players seeking a more laid-back yet rewarding gaming experience.
