Wonders of Aztec

Wonders of Aztec is an online slot developed by Pragmatic Play. The game suits players who enjoy Aztec-themed settings. It also comes with several distinctive features that give players more ways to win, which can lead to more rewarding and enjoyable gaming sessions.

Gameplay Features and Bonuses

Wonders of Aztec plays on a 6×5 grid and uses a Scatter Pays system, meaning wins are formed by landing at least 8 matching symbols anywhere on the grid rather than along fixed lines. The RTP stands at 96.55%, the game is classified as medium volatility, and the maximum win potential reaches 10,000x the total bet.

Tumble Feature: Every spin runs through the Tumble Feature. Winning combinations pay first, then those symbols disappear, the remaining symbols fall toward the bottom of the screen, and new symbols drop in to fill the empty positions.

Tumbling repeats for as long as each new arrangement produces a win, with no cap on the number of tumbles. All winnings are credited to the balance once the full sequence from the base spin has finished.

Scatter and Super Scatter: Both symbols land on all reels and count together toward the same payouts.

• 4 Scatter or Super Scatter symbols pay 3x the total bet
• 5 Scatter or Super Scatter symbols pay 5x the total bet
• 6 Scatter or Super Scatter symbols pay 100x the total bet

The difference between the two shows up at the trigger stage rather than in the payout, since a Super Scatter in the winning combination sends players into a different version of the bonus round.

Bomb Multiplier and Super Bomb Multiplier: Both symbols appear on all reels and can hit at random during spins and tumbles, in the base game as well as in Free Spins.

A Bomb Multiplier landing on a spin that produces at least one win adds a 2x multiplier on top of its own reel, or doubles the multiplier already sitting there, up to a ceiling of 128x. A Super Bomb Multiplier works the same way but applies across every reel rather than one, again up to 128x.

Once the tumbling sequence ends, the values of all Multiplier symbols on the screen are added together and the total win from the sequence is multiplied by that combined figure.

Free Spins: Landing 4, 5, or 6 Scatter symbols anywhere on the screen award 10, 20 or 30 Free Spins, respectively. A Super Scatter included in the triggering combination sends players into Super Free Spins instead, with the same 10, 20 or 30 spins for 4, 5, or 6 Scatters of any kind.

Multipliers behave differently inside either round. They stay on top of the reels until the round ends rather than clearing after each sequence. A Super Free Spins round also opens with a random number of Bomb Multipliers placed on the screen, which add or double the multipliers above the reels they land on.

One condition applies to those stored values: the multipliers on top of the reels only affect winning combinations when a Bomb Multiplier or Super Bomb Multiplier hits during the spin or one of its tumbles. Landing 4 or more Scatters during the round award 5 additional Free Spins. The Super Scatter does not appear once the round is underway, and special reels are in play throughout.

Special Bets: Players select a bet multiplier before spinning, and each setting changes how the game behaves.

Ante Bet: Costs 100x and raises the chance of hitting Free Spins by 16x.

Super Spin 1: Costs 200x and guarantees at least 1 Bomb or Super Bomb Multiplier on every spin.

Super Spin 2: Costs 6,000x and carries the same guarantee plus a larger multiplier range: the first bomb to hit takes a value randomly selected from 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x, 32x, 64x, 128x, 256x, 512x or 1,024x. The first Super Bomb Multiplier symbols to land add that same value to all reels, and subsequent Bomb or Super Bomb Multipliers double the values on top of the reels up to 1,024x.

Buy Feature: Two purchase options are available from the base game.

• Standard Free Spins: Costs 100x the current total bet.
• Super Free Spins: Costs 500x the current total bet.

In both cases, landing 4, 5, or 6 Scatter symbols land at random on the triggering spin, which determines the number of Free Spins awarded.

Design and Soundtrack

Wonders of Aztec places players in a natural setting. The backdrop shows a jungle at sunset, filled with dense tropical trees and a river running through it in turquoise tones. An Aztec woman stands beside the grid and gives the scene a lively touch. The reels hold blue, green, purple, yellow and red symbols in different shapes carrying Aztec drawings, alongside four characters that match the theme. The soundtrack playing over the game fits the setting closely.

Players who like this type of setting and gameplay can also look at Aztec Smash and Aztec Treasure Hunt, two other Pragmatic Play titles.

The Bottom Line

Wonders of Aztec runs on Scatter Pays with unlimited tumbles, and its Bomb Multipliers carry most of the weight. A standard bomb builds a multiplier on its own reel up to 128x, while the Super Bomb applies across all six. Multipliers stay above the reels for the whole bonus round, and the Super Scatter routes players into a version that starts with bombs already placed. Four Special Bet settings and two purchase options at 100x and 500x give players several entry routes.
