Captain Kraken Megaways

Captain Kraken Megaways Slot Review

Captain Kraken Megaways is an online slot created by Pragmatic Play. The game is designed around a pirate theme and is a solid choice for players who enjoy adventurous settings. In addition, the slot incorporates special features that are intended to boost winning chances and lead to more exciting and potentially rewarding gaming sessions.

Gameplay Features and Bonuses

Captain Kraken Megaways is played on a dynamic grid with 6 reels and up to 8 rows that shift on every spin. This setup creates as many as 200,704 possible ways to win. The game runs with a 96.55% RTP and comes with high volatility, offering the chance for larger payouts at a less frequent pace.

Tumble Feature: Whenever a win lands, the payout is awarded, and the winning symbols vanish from the reels. The remaining icons drop to the bottom, while new ones fall from above to fill the empty spots. These new symbols are always the same size as those in the spin that triggered the tumble. The total winnings are added to the balance only once all tumbles linked to a single spin are complete.

Money Symbol: This symbol can land on any reel except the top horizontal one and take on a random value from a fixed set each time it appears. Possible values range from 1x to 25x, with special labels of 40x (Minor), 200x (Major), and 2,000x (Mega), all based on the total stake.

Collect Symbol: Found exclusively on the sixth reel, this symbol gathers the combined worth of all Money symbols on the grid when it lands at the same time as at least one of them.

Respins Symbol: Also tied to the sixth reel, this activates the bonus round whenever it lands alongside a Money symbol on any other reel.

Respin Feature: When triggered, all standard symbols disappear, leaving behind only Money symbols, Modifier symbols, and blank positions. The reel heights are locked to the layout from the triggering spin and remain fixed for the round.

Any Money symbols already present stay in place. The round begins with 3 spins, which reset back to 3 every time a new Money or Modifier symbol appears. Only Modifier symbols can appear on the horizontal reel, and these can dramatically boost outcomes:

• Collect Reel: Takes the value of all Money symbols on its reel.
• Collect Screen: Collects the value of every Money symbol in view.
• Multiply Reel: Multiplies all Money symbols on its reel by 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x, 50x, or 100x.
• Multiply Screen: Multiplies every Money symbol on the grid by one of the same multipliers.

The round ends once no spins remain or when every reel position is filled with Money symbols. At that point, the combined value of all Money symbols is paid out.

Ante Bet: Activating this option increases the likelihood of triggering the Respin feature by adding more Money symbols to the reels.

Buy Respins: Players can skip straight to the Respin round by purchasing it for 100x the total bet. When bought, the round begins with a random reel configuration, determined by the spin that starts the purchased feature.

Design and Soundtrack

Captain Kraken Megaways sets the stage with a stormy ocean, distant islands on the horizon, and a ship battling against rough waters. The reels carry theme-appropriate symbols such as 9-A figures carved from wood, as well as anchors, octopuses, and two pirate characters. Moreover, the soundtrack matches the maritime setting perfectly to enhance the atmosphere of the game.

For those who enjoy similar themes and mechanics, Pragmatic Play also offers Release the Kraken Megaways and Kraken’s Sky Bounty.

The Bottom Line

Captain Kraken Megaways stands out through its dynamic reel setup, the Tumble mechanic, and an RTP of 96.55% paired with high volatility. The Money and Collect symbols, along with the Respins feature, increase winning possibilities, especially with the potential of multipliers up to 100x. Additionally, options like the Ante Bet and Buy Respins provide extra ways to trigger the bonus round.
