Ice Mints

This game brings a fresh concept to Pragmatic Play’s slot lineup, focusing on symbol-driven mechanics that influence each spin. The game introduces a unique interaction involving multipliers and special symbols, offering something different from more conventional slot designs.

Whether that concept fully lands will likely depend on how much weight players place on originality over visual consistency.

Gameplay features and bonuses

Ice Mints is another simple slot release from Pragmatic Play. It runs on a 5-reel, 3-row setup with 20 fixed paylines. The game features high volatility and a 96.50% RTP, offering potential payouts of up to 10,000 times the base bet.

Mint Symbols and Cup Multipliers

The Mint symbols play a unique role in the game. They don’t come with any payouts themselves but interact with the cola cup multipliers located at the bottom of reels 2, 3, and 4. On each spin, one or more cups may randomly display a multiplier, or none may be displayed at all.

When Mint symbols hit, they drop into the cups below, and new symbols fall in to take their place. Sometimes, a cup reacts by expanding a WILD symbol over the entire reel above it, like a fizzy reaction between the drink and the mint. When this happens, the multiplier on that cup applies to all wins on the screen. If more than one cup triggers at the same time, their multipliers are added together.

Free Spins – Hitting 3, 4, or 5 Scatter symbols activates the Free Spins round with 10, 15, or 20 spins, respectively.

At the start of the round, cups appear without any multipliers. They also stop receiving random multipliers. Instead, every time a Mint symbol lands in a cup without triggering a WILD expansion, the cup’s multiplier increases by 1x. These values persist throughout the entire Free Spins round.

Landing another set of Scatter symbols during the feature retriggers it and grants the same number of additional spins as the initial trigger.

Buy Free Spins – Players can trigger the Free Spins feature instantly by purchasing it for 80x the base bet.

Design and Soundtrack

The overall presentation of this game feels a bit disjointed. The background features icy blocks and flowing water, with cans of various beverages placed around as if they’re being chilled. Visually, it comes off a little cluttered. Conversely, the grid introduces fruits, cups, juice boxes, and smoothies, which don’t quite tie in cohesively with the setting.

The standout element is the interaction between the Mint symbols and the cups on reels 2 to 4. It mimics a soda reaction and adds a unique visual moment to the gameplay. Aside from that, the design doesn’t leave a strong impression.

It’s difficult to find a direct comparison, but there is another ice-themed slot from Pragmatic Play called Ice Lobster that mixes the frozen setting with a more consistent visual direction and similar mechanics. That alternative feels more put together overall.

The Bottom Line

Ice Mints experiments with a concept that feels inventive in terms of mechanics but less refined in presentation. The theme comes across as somewhat random, which may deter players who prefer a more cohesive design.

That said, the cup multiplier system tied to Mint symbols is genuinely original and does add a point of interest to the game. It’s not the most polished slot from Pragmatic Play, but there’s some novelty in how the feature plays out.
