Book of Chilli

Book of Chilli is an online slot developed by Pragmatic Play. The game will suit players drawn to bright, restaurant-inspired settings. Sitting behind that theme is a set of features built to give players more ways to win, which can lead to more rewarding and entertaining sessions.

Gameplay Features and Bonuses

Book of Chilli plays on a standard 5×3 grid with 10 paylines. The RTP sits at 94.50%, below the industry average. Volatility is classified as medium, and the maximum win potential reaches 5,000x the total bet.

Book Symbol: The Book symbol handles two jobs. It acts as both Scatter and Wild, substituting for everything else on the reels. It also pays in its own right, with 3, 4, or 5 of them awarding prizes according to the Wild symbol paytable.

Free Spins: Landing 3 Book symbols triggers the bonus with 10 Free Spins. Before the first spin runs, players pick one symbol to serve as the special expanding symbol for the duration.

That choice governs how the round pays. After regular symbol payouts are settled on each spin, the selected symbol stretches vertically to fill all three positions on its reel. Expanded, it pays according to its own paytable across every reel, and adjacency does not matter, so positions scattered across the grid still count. Expansion only occurs when enough symbols for a win are actually on the screen.

Retriggers keep the round going indefinitely. Hitting 3 or more Book symbols during the round awards 10 additional Free Spins, carrying the same special symbol already selected, and no limit applies to how many times this can happen.

Jackpot Bonus Game: As many as 4 progressive jackpots run at once: Grand, Mega, Major and Minor. The minimum qualifying bet is €0.10, and the totals build from contributions taken across all participating player bets. Individual contribution amounts can differ slightly because of currency conversion and rounding at the third decimal.

Wins come at random at the end of any base game spin, never during a feature. Once triggered, a bonus screen opens and the player reveals items until three matching names appear, which identifies the jackpot won. Larger bets improve the odds, but every jackpot remains winnable at any stake above the €0.10 minimum. A jackpot that pays out is reseeded from funds held back for that purpose and begins building again from the new seed.

Several administrative conditions also apply. Displayed jackpot totals can differ from actual values because of internet lag. Where two or more players win at roughly the same moment, the wins are settled in order and each player collects the accumulated value at the exact moment of their own win rather than splitting the prize. Contributions from a jackpot that closes without being paid move to another jackpot. Jackpots can also be suspended temporarily, halting contributions while the accumulated amount stays in place and becomes winnable again once they resume.

Buy Free Spins: The round can be entered directly from base play for 100x the current total bet, which awards the standard 10 starting Free Spins.

Design and Soundtrack

The action takes place inside a restaurant, with sunlight pouring through tall arched windows onto the room below. Filling the grid are 10-A figures, bruschetta topped with chilli tomato sauce, jars of chilli sauce, and two chef characters, one woman and one man. A soundtrack runs alongside and adds to the setting.

Players after something comparable in look and gameplay can turn to Running Sushi and Oodles Of Noodles, two other Pragmatic Play releases.

The Bottom Line

The expanding symbol mechanic carries Book of Chilli. Players choose which symbol expands before the round begins, and once expanded it pays across all reels regardless of adjacency, which turns scattered positions into wins. Retriggers have no ceiling, so 10 Free Spins can stretch considerably further. The Book doubles as Scatter and Wild while paying on its own paytable. Four progressive jackpots sit alongside the base game, awarded at random on base spins from a €0.10 qualifying stake.
