Rusty & Curly

Embark on a comical adventure in the Wild West with Rusty & Curly, a vibrant slot game crafted by Hacksaw Gaming. Join the bumbling duo and their quirky companions as they traverse the unpredictable town of Dorkville. With a playful design, engaging gameplay features, and an immersive soundtrack, this medium-volatility slot offers a unique twist on the traditional Western theme.

Gameplay features and bonuses

Rusty & Curly presents a 5-reel, 4-row slot experience with 14 paylines, boasting medium volatility and an RTP of 96.29%. It's important to note that purchasing feature buys can modify this rate.

Almost Sticky Wild Posters: The game introduces the Almost Sticky Wild Posters feature, where Wild Posters can appear with Hearts, Multipliers, or both. These posters remain on the grid, offering respins as long as one Heart persists. Each Wild Poster may arrive with up to three Hearts and loses one per respin. When all Hearts are depleted, the Wild Poster vanishes after the following respin. Additionally, these posters can feature a random multiplier, ranging from 2x up to 10x. During these respins, all FS symbols that appear are gathered in a progress bar above the grid. Accumulating three or four FS symbols triggers a bonus.

Stick To The Plan!: The Stick To The Plan! bonus is activated by landing three FS scatter symbols in a single spin within the base game, granting six free spins. This enhances the probability of Wild Posters appearing with more Hearts and larger Multipliers. In this phase, multipliers can escalate to between 2x and 100x. As long as there's at least one Wild Poster with one or more Hearts on the grid, you receive free respins, which do not deduct from your total free spins.

Who Shot The Sheriff?: Who Shot The Sheriff? is another enticing bonus feature, triggered by acquiring four FS scatter symbols in a single base game spin, which provides 12 free spins divided into three Cycles. Each Cycle comprises one Collect Phase spin followed by three Payout Phase spins. In the Collect Phase, characters Rusty, Curly, or both expand into a Wild Reel on a random reel and shoot at Multipliers on the grid, adding the total value of these Multipliers to the Wild Reel for the Payout Phase. The Multiplier values range from 1x to 200x. The Rusty & Curly Wild Reels remain sticky through the Payout Phase spins, maintaining their Multiplier values. The game reintroduces itself to the Collect Phase after completing the Payout Phase. Additional FS symbols landed during this feature extend the number of Cycles.

Bonus Buy: Moreover, players have the option to purchase distinct bonus features:

• BonusHunt FeatureSpins cost three times the bet, making each spin five times more likely to trigger a bonus game. This comes with high volatility and an RTP of 96.4%.
• The Stick-Up FeatureSpins, costing fifty times the bet, ensure at least five Wild Poster symbols land per spin. This has medium volatility with an RTP of 96.29%.
• ‘Stick To The Plan!' can be bought for 100 times the bet, awarding six free spins with an increased number of Wild Posters, characterised by high volatility and an RTP of 96.29%.
• ‘Who Shot The Sheriff?' is available for 300 times the bet, providing 12 free spins split into three cycles, potentially featuring up to four Wild Reels with collectable multipliers, maintaining high volatility and an RTP of 96.41%.

Design and Soundtrack

Rusty & Curly ushers players into the world of the West, where the protagonists, Rusty and Curly, reign as the most comically inept gunslingers. Accompanied by their sidekicks, Crispy & Chewy, the duo embarks on a chaotic journey through the muddy lanes of Dorkville, leaving a trail of mischief in their wake. The game's visuals are rich with character, featuring symbols ranging from the conventional J to A for lower values to more thematic icons such as a skull, a cowboy hat, a bottle of alcohol, a horseshoe, and a sheriff's badge, each contributing to the storyline's authenticity.

While the market teems with Western-themed slots, providing a wide array of choices, Rusty & Curly offers a distinct flavour with its less serious, more animated approach. This contrasts with alternatives like The Wild Gang by Pragmatic Play, which we would also recommend.

The Bottom Line

Rusty & Curly by Hacksaw Gaming stands out with its engaging mix of gameplay features and medium volatility, suitable for a broad range of players. The game's innovative ‘Almost Sticky Wild Posters' and dynamic free spin cycles offer ample opportunities for excitement and wins. While the Bonus Buy options add a strategic element, allowing players to tailor their gaming experience. However, those seeking a more traditional or less animated theme may look elsewhere. Overall, it's a commendable slot for those who appreciate creativity and variety in their gaming sessions.
