Front Runner

Front Runner, developed by Pragmatic Play, is an online slot game that captivates with its simplicity and engaging theme. Set against a grass field backdrop that hints at its equestrian theme, this game unfolds on a traditional 5×3 grid with 10 paylines. It combines straightforward gameplay with an aesthetic that, while minimalistic, is crafted with attention to detail.

Gameplay features and bonuses

Front Runner is an elegantly simple online slot game from Pragmatic Play, set against a traditional 5×3 grid and offering 10 paylines for players to win. With a solid RTP of 96.51% and high volatility, it promises excitement and rewarding gameplay.

Free Spins: The game heats up with the Free Spins feature, activated by landing 3, 4, or 5 Bonus Scatter symbols, unlocking 10, 12, or 15 Free Spins. This feature takes players to the heart of a horse race, introducing three horse symbols, each carrying a 3x multiplier. The presence of a horse symbol on the reels not only advances the corresponding horse but also brings additional Free Spins.

Crossing the finish line with a horse multiplies winnings, with the potential for a cumulative multiplier of up to 12x if all horses finish. Moreover, each crossing horse awards 3 extra spins, and 9 spins if all three horses complete the race.

Symbols may occasionally appear with a wreath. When this happens, the wreath is moved to a random track position. If a horse lands in this position, it gains a boost, moving an extra step forward with each Free Spin.

Ante Bet: Players can slightly increase their stake to boost their chances of entering the Free Spins round by opting for the Ante Bet feature. However, the game does not offer a direct buy-in option with this feature active.

Bonus Buy: For those looking to get straight to the action, the Free Spins round can be accessed instantly for a cost equivalent to 100 times the player's current bet.

Design and Soundtrack

Front Runner's design transports players to a subtly rendered grass field, the backdrop's simplicity only fully revealing its horse racing theme during the exhilarating Free Spins round. The game's visual simplicity, featuring basic symbols such as the 10 to Ace cards, a horseshoe, a ribbon, and a badge, contrasts with its well-executed overall design. Meanwhile, the soundtrack offers a hopeful tone that, while pleasant, seems somewhat disconnected from the thematic essence of the game.

For enthusiasts seeking a more immersive horse racing experience with akin gameplay, Pragmatic Play's Big Bass Day at the Races is a commendable alternative.

The Bottom Line

Front Runner by Pragmatic Play is a straightforward game that strikes a balance between simplicity and the thrill of the race. Its main allure lies in the Free Spins feature, enhanced by the horse racing aspect and potential multipliers, offering a unique twist to the conventional slot experience. Although the design and soundtrack might not deeply immerse players, the game’s high RTP and volatility present a promising prospect for rewarding gameplay.
