Noche de Almas

Noche de Almas takes its theme from the Day of the Dead, the Mexican holiday dedicated to remembering loved ones who have passed away. BGaming developed the slot and gave it a set of special symbols and features meant to create more winning opportunities, which can make each session more rewarding and enjoyable.

Gameplay Features and Bonuses

Noche de Almas has an RTP of 97%, which is higher than the industry average, along with high volatility and a maximum win of 10,000x the total bet. The 6×5 grid uses Cluster Pays instead of paylines, and most of its features are linked in sequence. A winning cluster clears symbols, marks cells, and can eventually turn those cells into Coins and Special symbols.

Cluster Pays: 5 or more identical symbols that touch horizontally or vertically form a winning cluster. The cluster pays out and bursts, symbols from above fall into the empty spaces, and the process repeats within the same spin until no new clusters form.

Wild Symbol: The Wild can complete a cluster by standing in for any regular symbol. It does not replace Candle, Coin, or Special symbols.

Symbol Frenzy: A winning cluster also removes every other symbol of the same type from the reels, even those outside the cluster. This clears more space for new symbols to drop in.

Win Flash: Each cell that formed part of a winning cluster stays highlighted for one spin. These cells only become useful once a Candle symbol is involved.

Candle Symbol: If a Candle lands after a Win Flash, or is already on the reels when the cells are highlighted, every symbol in those highlighted cells disappears. Coins or Special symbols take their place.

Coin Symbols: Coins come in three types, and each type has its own range of multipliers.

• Bronze Coins carry x0.2, x0.5, x1, x2, x3, or x4
• Silver Coins carry x5, x10, x15, or x20
• Gold Coins carry x25, x50, x100, x250, or x500

The multipliers of all Coins on the reels are added together and applied to the bet.

Heart and Top Hat Symbols: The game has two Special symbols. A Heart carries a multiplier from x2 to x10 and applies it to every Coin next to it. A Top Hat collects all Coins on the reels and frees up their cells for new symbols.

Scatter Symbol: Landing 3 or more Scatters trigger Free Spins, and the number of Scatters decides which of the three versions the player receives. In each version, the Scatters that triggered the round become highlighted cells.

Soul Awakening (3 Scatters): This version awards 8 Free Spins. The highlighted cells stay in place until the first Candle appears, after which they work like a regular Win Flash.

Soul Fiesta (4 Scatters): Soul Fiesta awards 12 Free Spins. Its highlighted cells follow the Win Flash rules but remain active for the entire round instead of a single spin.

Soul Frenzy (5 Scatters): Soul Frenzy also awards 12 Free Spins with highlighted cells that last until the round ends. On top of that, a Candle appears on every spin and Bronze Coins are removed from the reels, which leaves only Silver and Gold Coins in play.

Retriggers and Upgrades: During Free Spins, 2 Scatters add 2 more spins and 3 Scatters add 4. Landing 4 Scatters in Soul Awakening upgrades the round to Soul Fiesta and awards 4 spins at that tier. Soul Fiesta cannot upgrade to Soul Frenzy in the same way.

Bet Modifiers: Two optional modes change how each spin plays out.

• Chance x5: Increases the likelihood of triggering Free Spins at a cost of 200% more per spin.
• Booster: Guarantees a Candle on every spin at a cost of 50x the bet per spin, an increase of 4,900%.

Bonus Purchases: Players can skip straight to Free Spins by buying Soul Awakening for 100x the bet or Soul Fiesta for 250x the bet. Soul Frenzy is not available to purchase.

Reel Deal: Reel Deal costs 333x the bet and plays 500 spins at once, then shows only the three highest-paying results in order from lowest to highest. If any of those spins triggers Free Spins, the full bonus round is played out.

Design and Soundtrack

The visuals follow Day of the Dead traditions closely. The background is a dimly lit chamber filled with candles, and the grid itself is designed as a shrine, decorated with more candles, crosses, and flowers. The lower-value symbols are the card ranks from 10 to A. Butterflies and flowers sit above them, along with a dog, a man, and a woman, all dressed and painted in the traditional style of the holiday. The soundtrack matches the candlelit design and supports the overall atmosphere.

Tres Pinatas Hold & Win by Hacksaw Gaming and Esqueleto Explosivo 3 by Thunderkick are suitable alternatives for players who want a similar setting and comparable gameplay features.

The Bottom Line

The Candle symbol determines how productive a spin can be in Noche de Almas, because highlighted cells only turn into Coins and Special symbols once one appears. That dependency makes the base game uneven and places most of the value in the Free Spins tiers. Soul Fiesta keeps its highlighted cells for the full round, and Soul Frenzy adds a Candle on every spin and removes Bronze Coins, so it is the strongest of the three. The high volatility and 10,000x maximum win suit players prepared for long gaps between larger payouts, and the Booster mode is costly at 50x the bet per spin.
