Carnival Bonanza

Carnival Bonanza is a lively online slot developed by BGaming, offering players a colorful carnival-themed experience. The game features bright visuals and a range of symbols that capture the festive atmosphere. With straightforward mechanics and a few engaging features, Carnival Bonanza provides both casual and experienced players with an enjoyable slot experience.

Gameplay features and bonuses

The game is set on a 6×5 grid, where symbols pay anywhere on the screen if at least 8 matching symbols appear. When a win occurs, the winning symbols disappear, and the ones above them fall into their places. This mechanic is called a Refill and continues until no further wins are achieved in a single spin. The slot has an RTP rate of 96% and features high volatility.

Chance X2 – Players can increase their bet by 25% to improve their chances of triggering the Free Spins round. Activating this feature disables the Bonus Buy option.

Free Spins Progress Bar – The Free Spins round includes a progress bar that influences the effect of the multipliers – the higher the level, the higher the multiplier. Each win featuring a low-paying symbol that hasn't previously won increases the level by 1.

If that symbol reappears, it no longer affects the level. Wins involving high-paying symbols that haven't previously won increase the level by 2. The levels range from 0 to a maximum of 15.

Free Spins – Getting 4 or more Scatters in the base game triggers the Free Spins round, where the number of spins awarded depends on the number of Scatters. Landing 4 Scatters grant 10 free spins, 5 Scatters provide 20 spins, and 6 Scatters award 30 spins.

Scatters also offer payouts based on how many land. This round introduces multipliers that apply to all wins, ranging from 2x to 100x. If multiple multipliers land, they are combined and applied to the win on the spin they appear. Additionally, landing 3 or more Scatters during the round extends it by 5 extra spins.

Bonus Buy – Players can purchase the Free Spins round for 100x their current bet.

Design and Soundtrack

Carnival Bonanza implements a charming carnival theme, with a red, friendly dragon as the game’s mascot. The grid is set in what resembles a carnival stall, decorated with a colorful array of reds, flags, and festive ornaments. While the design is vibrant, the background could benefit from more movement, as it feels somewhat static.

The grid features traditional card symbols from J to A as the low-paying symbols. While, in contrast, a mug, helmet, sword, toy horse on a stick, and the dragon symbol represent the higher-paying symbols, with the dragon offering the highest rewards. The game's soundtrack complements the carnival atmosphere well, adding to the overall experience.

For players seeking similar games, Spooky Carnival by Red Tiger Gaming offers a whimsical yet eerie twist on the carnival theme. Alternatively, Heart of Rio by Pragmatic Play provides a simpler gameplay option set amidst a vibrant Rio Carnival.

The Bottom Line

Carnival Bonanza by BGaming is a solid slot that blends simple gameplay with engaging features. The Free Spins round, multipliers, and progress bar add excitement with a potential for big wins. The Chance X2 feature gives players more control, while the Bonus Buy option provides instant access to the game’s main attraction. Although the background could use more movement, the vibrant design and fitting soundtrack make it an enjoyable choice for many players.
